About The Event

HCMC DEMAND & SUPPLY ESSENTIALS ARE NOW ON ONE MAP

The current harsh wave of the pandemic has caused HCMC to suffer for the past few months and the government is triggering stricter measures for people's safety. For labourers without good conditions, they are bringing back to their hometowns their dreams of the most vibrant city of Vietnam. For those who stay, there are unpredictable difficulties in procuring food and other necessities to feed their needs.

During the city lockdown, CEL has initiated a non-profit online interactive map “HCMC Supply Demand Essentials” to bridge the geographical gap between Supply and Demand - where to find necessities and where are in need. The tool is offered to people who need help, authorities and organisations that are supporting the community. A live event for audiences interested in our CSR project took place on 30 July to explore the dashboard.

Regarding the Supply aspect, the tool helps citizens to find the closest supermarkets, convenience stores or specialty shops for food, water, medicine required for their daily usage. In terms of Demand, data of basic requirements such as rice, meat and vegetable are available at ward level, aiming to support decision makers, benefactors or organisations that are finding data to support the HCM battle.

Also in scope of this project, data available from authorities is consolidated and analysed to see how existing over 3700 stores, accounting for 12% of regular operation, are spreading in the city. The imbalance in store distribution is shown by a notable gap up to 9 times between the number of stores residing in urban and suburban districts. For more insights, watch our webinar recording for our full analysis in different angles.

Right on the first day of the tool’s launching, CEL is happy to connect audiences who are concerned about how to donate their available food and water resources and generally companies are implementing their own CSR projects.

A mobile-friendly version will be available on 8 August. We appreciate any insights and ideas contributed by our valued users that help our team improve the tool better in its mission of serving HCMC. Explore, find what locations to fulfill your need or locate where are in need of your support at our online tool of Data For Good CSR project.
